I hope you all had a blessed week. I wanted to share with you part of Romans 12.
"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless with those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in Harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position...do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good."
We cannot enjoy all God desires for us if we live by our self-centered desires. Romans 12 says it all; by doing all of these things, we are truly enjoying all God desires of us. Here is what I believe Romans 12 is telling us to do.
"Hate what is evil; cling to what is good."- practice the Ten Commandments
"Be devoted to one another in brotherly love."- be a loyal friend
"Honor one another above yourselves." - care about other people; put yourself last
"Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord." - serve the Lord in everything you do; keep the Lord first. Always.
"Share with God's people who are in need." - Share the gospel, say a prayer, help them in whatever way possible
"Practice hospitality" - volunteer, make a difference in the lives of others
"Bless with those who persecute you"- love your enemies; pray for them
"Live in Harmony with one another." - do not argue, for it wastes time.
"Be willing to associate with people of low position" - dare to be different; talk with people who are very different from you
Most importantly, "do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good." Be civil; follow God and try your best to make what is evil, good. In doing so, YOU will be able to enjoy everything God desires for you. Be bold, be great, be YOU.
