"Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us; a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." -Ephesians 5:1-2

Breathe. Pray. Love.

Hey, everyone,
Sorry I haven't been updating my blog lately. School has been so insane! I need to remember to tell myself to just breathe sometimes. I'm sure we all have those moments in life where everything is just busy, busy, busy and it feels like we don't have time to do anything besides homework. I always think of the song "Breathe," by Michelle Branch in times like this. In stressful times, just breathe, and talk to God. He will always be there. The Bible says, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you." Leave all your worries and stressful moments up to Him.
Breathe. Pray. Love. (Clever, right?!)

My Weekend: Nursing Retreat

Hi, everyone!

I hope you are all having a great weekend! I just got back from my weekend nursing retreat at the Concordia Language Villages near Bemidji, MN. All of the newly-admitted nursing majors all go on a retreat to get to know one another better, to bond with the amazing professors, and to just escape the hectic college life. We had a lot of fun doing bonding activities, talking about what the next couple years will look like (oh boy...), and exploring how God can help you become the best nurse you can be . We had a fun worship service on Sunday morning before we left. So wonderful :) Have a great week!

You Will Never walk Alone

Boy, did I need to hear this today. God is so good, I seriously cannot say it enough. He always knows how to communicate to me when I'm feeling lonely or not up to par, which, I will admit, I often do. But God knows it, too, and He doesn't let me feel this way. He will never let me walk alone. He will never let you walk alone, either.

Remember He loves you!

Ben Breedlove

Happy 2012, everyone!

Recently, via Youtube, I stumbled upon the story of this teenager named Ben. Ben was 18 and a senior in high school living with a rare heart condition. He posted 2 videos of himself telling his story on Youtube. Just now, I read in People magazine that he had passed away on Christmas day. Ben's story touched millions and millions of people worldwide, including me. I don't know Ben, nor do I know what it's like to live with a chronic disease. However, my heart still ached for what he had to endure his whole life. I have been blogging so much about how living your life is so important, and about how being you is the best way to do that. Well, that is exactly what Ben did. Ben was not angry with God for having to live with a terrible condition. Rather, he thanked God for blessing him with a great, young life and was not afraid of death, because he knew that God would be there every step of the way. I encourage you to be like Ben, and to not be afraid of living your life. Take risks. Live like there's no tomorrow. Thank God for the wonderful life that you have, because you never know when you will see it end.

Take the Plunge into the New Year

Hey, guys.
2011 has almost come to and end...wow! Where did the time go? As we approach the year 2012, most of us probably look back at all the memories that have been made and all of the events that have happened. I usually take the time to think back on the year and think of one word to describe the year. The word I thought of this year is the word 'blessed.' I have been blessed with my family, I have been blessed with a job which I love, I have been blessed enough to get accepted into the nursing program at Concordia, and I have been blessed with the life in which I live. I know my life isn't perfect, and there are definently missing pieces, but I have to say that I am content with my life right now. God has plans for me, and I will trust in Him to let His plans fall into piece in 2012 and beyond.
My New Years resolution is to take more risks. Going out of my comfort zone has always been an issue for me. I love the safety and security of knowing what I am doing at all times. But, I've realized this past year, that isn't how the real world functions. In order to move forward into my life, I need to take risks. As I have found out this year, sometimes taking risks will result in consequences that may not be in your favor. That's okay, though. That's how it works. In 2012, I will take the plunge. I will take risks. Be confident, be bold, be you. Trust in Him. I know you can do it, too.
Happy New Year!

CHRISTmas

Hey, friends!
I just have a quick story to tell you that pretty much made my day. At work, we do this activity called Bible Time, where all of the classrooms come together for a half hour to learn and sing songs about Jesus. The theme today was what Jesus has to do with Christmas, and one of the questions was "What do presents have to do with Jesus?" A 4-year old raised his hand immediately and said "Because Jesus was our first present." I was amazed not only at his answer, but the fact that he has the meaning of Christmas spot on. Jesus is the reason why we celebrate Christmas. The 4-year old was right; Jesus was our first gift. We give gifts to honor what Jesus brought to this world, as well as to remember his sacrifice for us. Because of Jesus, we are free of all sin. Remember the Christmas story in the Bible? That bright star in the sky above the stable?

That's there to remind us why we are so in love with Jesus Christ, and why He loves us back just as much. This is why Christmas is my favorite holiday :)
Keep the Christ in CHRISTmas forever. Merry Christmas!
