"Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us; a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." -Ephesians 5:1-2

Live Like You're Loved

Dear friends, I present to you "Live Like You're Loved"

Although this video is a tribute to someone unrelated to me, this song still brings tears to my eyes no matter what. There are no words to describe how much I love this song. It's the point of life :) This is how I live my life. I hope you do, too :)

Lovely

"I feel lovely just the way that I am...I'm just little old me, and that's fine by me." -Sara Haze.

These are lyrics to a song that I just listened to by Sara Haze, called "Lovely." And, quite frankly, I like these lyrics a lot :) You SHOULD feel lovely just the way that you are. In fact, you ARE lovely just the way that you are. God created you to be lovely, to be beautiful, to make a difference in this world, even if you don't know it yet. Did you know that you can change someone's world just by being here? By existing? Well, you can :) That's what love is, and that's what love does. This reminds me of a song I am currently working on. So, to close this post off, I would like to share with you a song I am working on for guitar. The song is called "Miracle" and, although I don't have all the lyrics yet, I will share with you the first verse and the chorus. The song is a testimony straight from God. He's saying that you're a miracle :) Never forget that.

"When I look at this world, and I see the good in everything,
when others see the gray, and the hatred and fear.
Why can't they just see that beauty does exist?

Because you are my little miracle
And you are so beautiful
And I don't know what I would do without you
You are a miracle to me

It's a work-in-progress, but I hope you like it so far. Have a great week, everyone!

Identity- Lecrae

Hello, friends!
I'm back! Phew, it's been a crazy busy summer for me so far, but it's been a good one :) I guess I'll kick off the start of July (or, almost the start of July) with a song by one of my favorite bands, Lecrae. This band sends such powerful messages in their songs! "Identity is found in the God we trust; any other identity will self destruct." My identity is found in Christ. Your identity is found in Christ, too. Their words tell it all. I encourage you to listen to this amazing message. Reflect on it, and believe it.
Christ is Life, and the life I live is through Christ.

Kari Jobe

So, I'm seriously in love with Kari Jobe's music. I don't know why I didn't buy her album earlier! I am in love with Jesus Christ, and Kari Jobe exemplifies that love in my heart in so many ways. Go check out her new album, Where I Find You, on iTunes. Do it!! I've been lifing my hands to Him all night long through her music. This video of her song, Here, is about coming to know Jesus Christ. I encourage you to listen and reflect on His greatness.

Have a great week, everyone!

Life: It's Amazing

Life right now seriously can't get any better! So many great things have happened in the last 24 hours, it's crazy.
1. School is wrapping up for the semester. Exactly 2 weeks until summer!
2. My sister's wedding is one week from today! Soooo excited :)
3. The Lucky One is officially in theaters! I have read the book 4 times...
4.  I got asked to be a part of the Cobber Cru team for the 2012-13 school year! I am humbled and honored that people see potential in me to be a part of this wonderful Christian organization. I accept the offer, and can't wait to work with the wonderful Cru team next year :)
5. It's Friday! I am looking forward to a very fun weekend with friends :)
6. I am happy with where things are at with someone in particular ;) (you know who you are...)

So basically, life right now is pretty close to perfect. I encourage you to live life everyday with as much enthusiasm as I have today. Life's too short to worry about things, to have regrets, to wonder "what if." Life is a blessing; thank God for it every single day, because you are blessed.
Life: It's Amazing.

Tangled

This is my third blog post this week, I know. But, I need to share this song because it's fantastic!
I had a movie night with my roommates tonight and of course we watched our favorite movie, Tangled. Every time I watch that movie, I get "I See the Light" stuck in my head. Best. Song. Ever! (Well, my favorite song changes daily, but today, it was this song.)
So, here ya go :) I hope it gets stuck in your head, too...you're welcome!

The true meaning of Easter

Happy Easter, everyone!
Sorry it's a little late, but better late than never, right? I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter weekend. There's no greater time to celebrate how much He loves us than to remember how He rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven! This reminds me of a cute moment that happened this weekend:
On Friday, I helped my sister nanny for two adorable little girls. I asked the 2 year old, "What happens on Easter?" Expecting to hear about the Easter bunny and eggs, I heard, "Jesus rises, Sarah!" She is exactly right.
Although it is fun to go Easter egg hunting and get candy from the Easter bunny, Easter is all about celebrating Christ and everything He has done for us. On Easter Sunday, I always look forward to singing the hymn "Jesus Christ has Ris'n Today" because it honors Jesus. "Jesus Christ has Risen Today! Alleluia!" We are so thankful everyday for what He did for us, and I am honored to sing that hymn at the top of my lungs.
Always remember this saying that we say every Easter Sunday in Church: Christ has risen! He has risen indeed, Alleluia!

Bachelorette Party

Hey, guys!
I'm so sorry I haven't been keeping up with my blog lately. I've been SO crazy busy trying to balance school with going home for wedding stuff. Can you believe the wedding is only 5 weeks away?! That's crazy to think about. BTW, in case you're not caught up with this wedding thing, it's not my wedding, it's my sister's wedding :) Just clarifying! This weekend was a bridal shower/ the highly anticipated bachelorette party. We had a lot of fun planning it, and we succeeded in pleasing my sister. (or embarrassing, which ever you prefer)
Here are some pictures from the weekend!

Showing off our ring pops! (That's right, we had ring pops) :)

We went to Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner.Like the shirts I made? :)

We came up with some interesting games for her to play.

I hope everyone has a GREAT week! Always remember to smile :)

Faithfully

So, this song is really, really, really good. I'm doing homework, but I wanted to share this beautiful song with all of you! The message in it is from God to you. He's always there. Always.
"I'm forever yours, faithfully."

Helloooo Summer!

Okay, so I don't know about you guys, but I keep checking my calendar to make sure we're in the right month. How the heck is it 80 degrees in March?! I'm confused, but nevertheless I'm LOVING it! Today, I went on a walk with a friend, and wore shorts and sandals to class. Wooo! It's crazy to think that 3 weeks ago, I was in Florida enjoying the weather Minnesota is having now. How nice of the Floridian weather to follow us :) I feel like nice weather makes everyone's day more enjoyable, and it seems as if everyone's in a good mood! Praise God for beautiful weather :) I hope everyone has a good weekend, and don't forget to SMILE and enjoy this early summer we're having!
To make the mood ready to summer, I think it's time to crank up some Rascal Flatts. Because, let's face it, it's summer, baby!

The perfection of imperfection

So, I had a tough day the past two days. It's getting to that point in the semester when I have too much on my plate, and am stressing about trying to get everything done. I got some pretty lousy grades on two important exams, and, to tell you the truth, that caught me off guard and I had a really difficult time accepting the reality of the grades I got. But, I realized that I was being really pathetic. Why? Because that's how life goes. Life is not perfect. I am not perfect, and sometimes I think I can be. I don't know why I keep thinking this, though. I am well aware that no one is perfect except for Jesus Christ. Jesus has everything planned for me, and He loves no matter if I get a bad grade on an exam. He wants me to try my best, trust in Him, and live my life with as much love as He gives me. So, everyone, try your best in everything you do. But, please don't try to be perfect like I sometimes do. Being imperfect is so much sexier ;) Bring out your flaws, live you life, and don't forget to smile!
Enjoy this beautiful spring weather!

What Makes you Beautiful

So, as I was doing homework today, a song came on the radio called "What Makes you Beautiful." I was intrigued by the beautiful melody, so I looked up the lyrics and realized how beautiful those were, too.

"Baby, you light up my world like nobody else...you don't know you're beautiful...that's what makes you beautiful."

I believe that every single person is beautiful in their own way. You light up our world, and we could not live without you. Do not think of yourself as just a person living in a world where nobody notices you, because that's not true at all. What makes you beautiful is the fact that you're living in this world today. To me, you're beautiful in every way.
Live your life, smile, and be beautiful :)
 Have a good weekend!

We Are...

Hi, everyone :)
Since I am going to Florida for my spring break tomorrow, I will leave you with a message that all of us should here: "We are the light of the world, we are the city on a hill. We are the light of the world, and we gotta let the light shine."
Let your light shine in your everyday lives. Make someone's day, smile at someone who looks sad, post encouraging things on people's Facebook walls, befriend a stranger. Do what Jesus does :)
Have a GREAT week, and I will post lots of pictures from my trip when I get back!
Remember to let your light shine.

A Man's Promise

Holy cow, what a message. A friend of mine posted this on hie Facebook page, and I feel like I am obliged to share this with all of you, especially the women. What Zach (the guy in the video) is saying is the reason why I created this blog in the first place. What he is saying should be preached anywhere and everywhere, because every single person is a child of God, and every single person should feel loved and accepted for who they are.
"I beg of you, please do not be anyone other than who you are meant to be."
"You are worthy to be served."
"We are your brothers, and we love you dearly."
"You are beautiful."
Never forget this.

You are Loved

As Valentine's day quickly approaches, I am constantly reminded of how important it is to love and be loved. Even though I don't have that special someone to celebrate this holiday with, that does not mean that I am not loved. Love is complicated because it has so many different forms. Love is difficult to describe, because it can only be felt. However, God knows how to describe it. My favorite verse in the Bible, (and probably other people's favorite one, too), is 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. In fact, I have this verse hanging right above my desk so I can be constantly reminded of how much God loves me.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."

God teaches me to love, just as he loves me in return. He never fails me, just as love doesn't fail. When I do find the one for me, the special love I will give to them will be the kind of love God gives to me.
So, Happy Valentine's Day! I hope it's special. Always remember you are loved.

The Stand

So I'll stand with arms high and hearts abandoned
In awe of the One who gave it all
So I'll stand my soul Lord to You surrendered
All I am is Yours
~Hillsong United

Give your heart up to Him, for He is ours, and we our His.
Do not be ashamed of who you are, or how you look, or how people see you. You are His, and you are perfect in His eyes. You are loved, you are cherished, and you are His child. In all that's bad in this world, you are not a cause of it.
Listen to this song, lift your arms up to Jesus, and sing your loudest. I just did. Praise, Love, be amazed by His presence.

Breathe. Pray. Love.

Hey, everyone,
Sorry I haven't been updating my blog lately. School has been so insane! I need to remember to tell myself to just breathe sometimes. I'm sure we all have those moments in life where everything is just busy, busy, busy and it feels like we don't have time to do anything besides homework. I always think of the song "Breathe," by Michelle Branch in times like this. In stressful times, just breathe, and talk to God. He will always be there. The Bible says, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you." Leave all your worries and stressful moments up to Him.
Breathe. Pray. Love. (Clever, right?!)

My Weekend: Nursing Retreat

Hi, everyone!

I hope you are all having a great weekend! I just got back from my weekend nursing retreat at the Concordia Language Villages near Bemidji, MN. All of the newly-admitted nursing majors all go on a retreat to get to know one another better, to bond with the amazing professors, and to just escape the hectic college life. We had a lot of fun doing bonding activities, talking about what the next couple years will look like (oh boy...), and exploring how God can help you become the best nurse you can be . We had a fun worship service on Sunday morning before we left. So wonderful :) Have a great week!

You Will Never walk Alone

Boy, did I need to hear this today. God is so good, I seriously cannot say it enough. He always knows how to communicate to me when I'm feeling lonely or not up to par, which, I will admit, I often do. But God knows it, too, and He doesn't let me feel this way. He will never let me walk alone. He will never let you walk alone, either.

Remember He loves you!

Ben Breedlove

Happy 2012, everyone!

Recently, via Youtube, I stumbled upon the story of this teenager named Ben. Ben was 18 and a senior in high school living with a rare heart condition. He posted 2 videos of himself telling his story on Youtube. Just now, I read in People magazine that he had passed away on Christmas day. Ben's story touched millions and millions of people worldwide, including me. I don't know Ben, nor do I know what it's like to live with a chronic disease. However, my heart still ached for what he had to endure his whole life. I have been blogging so much about how living your life is so important, and about how being you is the best way to do that. Well, that is exactly what Ben did. Ben was not angry with God for having to live with a terrible condition. Rather, he thanked God for blessing him with a great, young life and was not afraid of death, because he knew that God would be there every step of the way. I encourage you to be like Ben, and to not be afraid of living your life. Take risks. Live like there's no tomorrow. Thank God for the wonderful life that you have, because you never know when you will see it end.
